Based on the unanimous recommendation of the Music and Worship Search Committee and the Personnel Committee, Derrick Arellano will be presented to the Westwood Baptist Church family in view of a call on Sunday, July 12th. Derrick brings more than a decade of congregational music leadership experience and demonstrates a deep and abiding faith. Derrick will lead us in worship on the morning of July 12th. He will also share his testimony, and sing a duet with his wife, Brooke. Brooke is a music educator and she and Derrick share two children; Anson, who will be a freshman at Texas A&M University; and Alayna, who will be a freshman in high school.
At the close of the service will will hold a special called business meeting with the single issue of voting on the call of Derrick Arellano as our next Associate Pastor for Music and Worship. There will be a ballot vote for those able to worship in-person that morning. In addition, we will offer a drive-by ballot voting option for one hour for all members that joined the worship service through one of our live-stream options. The quorum requirement is 10% of our membership, which is a minimum of 59 caste ballots. The candidate must receive a 75% affirmation of those that participate in the voting process. Our hope is that as many as possible will chose to participate in one of the two voting options.
