Disciple Life
Westwood is committed to help create a culture of disciples that make disciples.
“Relational,” “transformational,” and “relevant” are descriptors of what happens when ministry programs and mission partnerships become personal and life changing.
Westwood’s Mission Statement calls for us to be, “A community of believers worshiping God, making disciples, and sharing Christ’s love.” This is a strong statement.
The Great Commission tells us that our call is to make disciples, teaching them to obey all that Jesus commanded.
The fear is that the Church can confuse growing in knowledge with growing as a disciple. Here are three lenses for viewing discipleship:
“Relational.”
Our goal as disciples is not to know more about God, but to know God.
“Transformational.”
Our goal as disciples is not to be informed by God’s word, but to be transformed by it.
“Relevant.”
Our goal as disciples is to let God speak into the whole of our lives – where we are – and then speak into the lives of others where they are.
We are called to be a community of believers…. making disciples.
Our gifted teachers love sharing their faith and life experiences with their students. And our classes build prayerful communities with a passion for service, both in and outside the church.
We invite you to join us each Sunday at 9:15 am.
