Based on the success of the Diaper Drive and the Food and Supplies Drive for the Kennedy Home, the Missions Committee at Westwood Baptist is inviting us to step up together in ministry once again. One of Westwood’s great traditions is the “Share the Bounty” gathering tied to Thanksgiving each year. How we have done the gathering has been different each year over the past few years, and this season invites us to be creative once again. This year we will do the ingathering using the drive by model we have mastered over the past months. The date for the Share the Bounty ingathering set for November 22nd (Sunday) from 1:30pm – 3pm.

This year the food pantries at Dorcas Ministries and the Western Wake Crisis Ministry will be the recipients of the food we collect together. Carolyn Hopkins has reached out to them and their share list of food needs include:

  • Cereals
  • Saltines/crackers
  • Sugar (4 lb.)
  • Instant Potatoes
  • Rice (1 lb.)
  • Pasta
  • Pasta sauces
  • Cooking Oil
  • Bisquick/Pancake Mix
  • Mac and Cheese
  • Peanut Butter
  • Jelly/Jam
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Canned Fruit
  • Applesauce in the Jar
  • Salt
  • Can meats -chicken, tuna, spam, Vienna sausages
  • Can tomatoes – diced, sauce, etc.

We will enter toward the left toward the sanctuary and come down the hill and drop off the food at the lower portico. Our Missions Committee will be there to help take the food from you. We are excited for this opportunity for us to share the bounty of God’s gifts to us with those in our community that find themselves in a place of need. Come and join us in sharing the bounty of God’s provision for us.
