Worship at Westwood

Living Our Mission in Worship

Worship is at the very heart of what it means to be the people of God. Worship is that time to come together before God to celebrate who God is, what God is doing, where God is leading, and what God calls us to be and to do. It invites us to bring the whole of our story before God, and to offer ourselves to God in worship.

Worship is. . .

RELATIONAL.

We can worship alone, but worship is best when we worship together.

Worship is. . .

TRANSFORMATIONAL.

It is not only something that we participate in, but also something that moves us and touches us at our core.

Worship is. . .

RELEVANT.

While the message is as old as creation, we invite those of every generation to find their voice in worship.

Elements of Our Worship Serivces:

Music

In our services you'll find a mix of traditional and modern music. Our worship leadership includes a Chancel Choir, Praise Band, hymns, modern worship songs, organ, drums, guitar, piano, keyboard, timpani, tambourine, and more.

Sermons

Sermons cover a variety of topics, ground in the messages of Scripture. Our pastor likes to utilize the Revised Common Lectionary which allows us to move through the full story of Christ each year, while also wrestling with Scriptures that are not always heard from the pulpit.

Tech

The Sanctuary at Westwood is modern and able to offer AV/tech that includes slides during the sermon, words on the screen during music, and video reflections that tie into the overall theme of worship.

Children's Time

Each service features a time carved out for the youngest worshippers to hear from one of our ministers about the themes, Scripture, and meaning of the worship service that day. Children are called down at the proper time each week!

Offering

The work of a congregation is not done in a silo and requires all of us coming together to share our resources in order to build the kingdom of God. While online giving is always available, we do carve out a time in our service each week to recognize God's provision and our common mission to support Christ's work through our church.

Response

Following the sermon each week all are invited to respond to the ways the Spirit is working in their heart and life. Whether it is a decision to follow Jesus as one of his disciples, a desire to join with Westwood through baptism or transfer, or you just need prayer, this time is open and available to each Sunday!
